# The Smartest Notebook

The Leap Forward

We are very proud to present you the new MathistIt is a real sneak peak into the future, that allows you to easily solve and compute anything you write with a single click!

Here are some examples;

• Simplify any expression to speed up problem solving,
• Plot graphs,
• Evaluate expressions and get approximate values,
• Solve equations and inequalities (with visual representation),
• Solve definite and indefinite integrals (with visual representation),
• Crunch difficult logarithms,
• Find derivatives and much more…

You can do all of this with just one button:

Why is this important?

Have you ever worked on a problem, that is easy to understand, but just requires too much number crunching? – So did we!

We understand that learning a million new things every day as a technology or a science student doesn’t leave too much time for crunching math. And yet in most cases you cannot solve anything without it.

We decided create a solution to this problem with the help of cutting-edge technology.

The Mathist allows you to focus on problem solving and not number crunching, so that you achieve better results at things you are interested in!

1. Is there a print function or an export to PDF function?

1. Hello Dmien,

we are happy to notify you that you can now on use print function of your browser to both print your notes on paper or to a pdf file right from the web app. We have fine-tuned the output to be clean and optimized for the best reading experience. Thank you for your patience and interest 🙂

2. Hello, Dmien, thank you for your question.

To print your note, you can always use the browser’s print function (ctrl + p / command + p). With the current version of the app, it should just print what you see on the screen. But there is an update coming today or tomorrow, where we will incorporate much better print styles, so that when you print the note, it will print just the formulas and text, without any interface elements.

For the PDF export, we aren’t able to provide that function with this update, but we have certainly noted your request and we will keep you updated via this blog. For a quick solution, there are programs that act as PDF printers which means that, when you use the standard print function form any program, instead of physically printing the page, they create a PDF file.

Best regards,
The Mathist team

1. Actually the print function from the browser does not print the desired results, we are working on that and will post an update very soon. Thank you for your understanding 🙂

Have you considered making a version of the app that does not utilize the problem solving feature? I am a special education teacher. Some of my students have severe physical impairments that do not allow for typical pencil and paper math work to be done. In the past I have used the Panther Technologies apps (Math Paper specifically) for the iPad with these students. My district uses chromebooks more often and I have been searching for something that allows my student to demonstrate their math skills and complete their work independently but does not provide any additional assistance. Your app is the only thing I can find that I think might work.

1. Hello Dawn,
Our heart is full when we hear a story such as yours. My team and I are very motivated to provide you with a solution. Here is a quick tip: if you click on the gear icon in the top right corner, you should be able to turn on the “Indicate Wolfram | Alpha Usage” option. This will clearly mark any content in any note that was written by the problem solving feature. Please let us know if this was helpful to you, or if you experience any other problems with this. Also, if there is a feature (change) that you would like to see in the next update of the app, we are looking forward to hearing. Thanks, all the best! 🙂
